# Conceptual Graphs

The conceptual graph model was introduced by Sowa in 1976, developed in his seminal book in 1984, «Conceptual Structures: Information Processing in Mind and Machine», then enriched by the conceptual graph community (cf. the proceedings of the International Conference of Conceptual Structures). The term «conceptual graphs» (CGs in short) denotes a «family» of formalisms, rather than a unique formalism.

The formalism implemented in COGUI and COGITANT is defined and studied in the book «Graph-based Knowledge Representation».
