Microelectronics Department, facts and figures

Staff

The department is currently composed of 91 people (as of December 2010):
  • 18 lecturer-researchers (including 11 MdC and 7 Pr) on CNU sections 61 and 63,
  • 1 associate researcher,
  • 12 CNRS researchers on CN 07 and 08 (including 8 CR, 4 DR) and one INRIA DR researcher (50% MIC/ROB),
  • 3 ITA/IATOS in research support,
  • 1 secretary,
  • 41 PhD candidates,
  • 16 post-docs and contract engineers,
  • Several guest professors invited each year.

Theses

36 theses were defended from 2005 to 2008 (PhD candidates registered at the I2S System Information Structures doctoral school).

23 theses were defended from 2009 to 2011 (PhD candidates registered at the I2S System Information Structures doctoral school).

After their PhDs

The figures presented below highlight the following:
  • A high rate of employability for LIRMM graduates in the industry (58%), counting only permanent jobs.
  • 39% of LIRMM’s PhD candidates continue their careers in teaching and research (CR CNRS, MdC, IR, Post-doc).

Attraction

From 2005 – 2008, 33% of the students who defended their thesis had also studied in cities other than Montpellier.
This figure is currently 50% (including 30% having studied in foreign universities, such as Brazil, Germany, India, China, Morocco and elsewhere).
