Collaborations

Informatics, the science of information, is by nature an interdisciplinary field. The list of our department’s collaborations covers many areas, with a tendency towards life and environmental science. This also represents a very strong focus in Montpellier in general.

Department members collaborate with over 50 companies , ranging from regional SME/SMI organizations to large national and international companies such as EDF, France Télécom/Orange, Google, IBM, Microsoft Research and STMicroelectronics.

At the national level
Informatics department teams collaborate with some 20 French universities and higher education institutes, such as the Ecole des Mines d’Alès engineering school (LGI2P laboratory), with which researchers have built long-term collaboration relationships over many years. The interdisciplinary nature of the teams’ work also leads to natural contact with numerous research organizations:
  • Life and environmental sciences (CNRS, INRA, INSERM, CIRAD, IRD, CEMAGREF)
  • Chemical (ENSC)
  • Document sciences (ABES, INA)
  • Human and social sciences (FMSH, CREA)
  • Arms (DGA) and energy (CEA)

Recognition of the Informatics team and its dynamic attitude is also shown by its leadership and participation in numerous collaborative projects with organizations such as ANR, ACI, ARC INRIA, PEPS, COLOR INRIA and PICS.

International collaboration
The Informatics department is engaged in collaboration across all 5 continents, with universities in 11 countries in Europe, numerous universities in Canada and the USA, as well as universities in Australia and New Zealand. In addition, the department plays an important role in collaborations with African countries.
