« Advanced Topics in Exception Handling Techniques » Dony et al.
LNCS 4119, State-of-the-Art Survey. 300 pages. ISBN 0302-9743 Modern software systems are in many ways growing more complex and having to cope with a rising number of abnormal situations, which are, in turn, increasingly complex to handle. This makes it imperative to build resilient, robust and safe software systems. Exception handling is an essential part of software and system architectures and a crucial element in the tool-set that makes it possible to do this. This book represents a state-of-the-art survey of recent advances in the field and is inspired by two ECOOP workshops on exception handling that were held in 2003 and 2005. A number of leading researchers and workshop participants were invited to contribute to the book. This book is composed of five parts; the first four deal with topics related to exception handling in the context of programming languages, concurrency and operating systems, pervasive computing systems, and requirements and specifications. The last part focuses on case studies, experimentation and qualitative comparisons. The 16 lucid chapters by leading researchers competently address a broad range of issues in exception handling. |
