par Mohamad Sawan, Polystim Neurotechnologies Laboratory, Polytechnique Montreal

Lundi 15 mars 2010 de 16h à 17h
Salle des séminaires du LIRMM

La présentation sera donnée en langue française

Résumé
This talk concerns dedicated circuit techniques and design strategies to integrate in chips intended for subsequent assembly of high density multi-channel microsystems. These components are dedicated for Electroneurograms (ENGs) recording. Efficient neural interfacing circuits will be shown and high-fidelity data reduction strategies will be demonstrated. Also, an on-chip power management scheme based on automatic biopotential detection will be presented. The proposed strategy is intended to improve power consumption in multi-channel ENG sensors by an order of magnitude. Low-power design techniques and neural signal processing circuits, as well as dedicated implementation strategies to achieve high integration density in multi-channel microsystems will also covered in this presentation.

Mohamad Sawan, Professor, holds a Canada Research Chair on smart medical devices, founder and director of the Polystim Neurotechnologies Laboratory, and Director of the Microsystems Research Alliance of Quebec (ReSMiQ. For almost two decades, his research has been directed towards designing and building wireless medical systems to restore lost sensory ability or body organs functions through monitoring and low-current electrical stimulation. He has published extensively in archival scientific journals and highly reputed conference proceedings. Dr. Sawan is involved in collaboration with researchers from several medical institutes and different Engineering fields. He is Fellow of the IEEE, Fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering, Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada, and Officier of Quebec's National Order.
