Post-doctoral positions
Two post-doctoral positions are available to join the PlasmoExplore project.
Post-doctoral position at the CEA, Grenoble
A two-year POST-DOCTORAL position in BIOINFORMATICS is open in the
Comparative Chemogenomics team (Eric Marechal) in the PCV laboratory,
CEA Grenoble, France. The succesful candidate will contribute to a
collaborative project on in silico mining of the malaria genome
(PlasmoExplore project), implying teams from CEA Grenoble, the Museum
d Histoire Naturelle Paris (Isabelle Florent) and Laboratoire d
Informatique, de Robotique, de Microélectronique de Montpellier
(LIRMM, Olivier Gascuel).
Applicant should have a good knowledge (if possible practice) of
conventional methods used for biological sequence analyses (sequence
comparison methods, HMM profiling), biological data/knowledge
organization (metabolic schemes, ontologies) and data
integration. Applicant should have special skills in
statistics/probabilities applied to sequence comparisons, phylogeny,
and either molecular dynamics applied to protein structures, or
cheminformatics.
The successful candidate will explore new strategies to improve the
quality of malaria sequence automatic deciphering, in order to
introduce new possible biological targets to fight against this
disease. The position is based in Grenoble, but will imply close and
regular collaboration with the team in Montpellier and with University
of Pretoria.
The position is at the postdoctoral level. It can be for up to 24
month. The salary will be commensurate with experience.
Applicant should have a PhD in (applied) mathematics, computer
science, structural biology, or bioinformatics. Applicants should
submit a summary of research interest, CV, reprints of main
publications and names of two referees.

Post-doctoral position at the LIRMM, Montpellier
A Post-doctoral position is available for up to 3 years in the "Method
and Algorithm for Bioinformatic" group (MAB) to join the PlasmoExplore
project. This project implies teams from CEA Grenoble (Eric Marechal),
the Museum d'Histoire Naturelle Paris (Isabelle Florent) and the
LIRMM, and is funded by the french National Research Agency.
The candidate will work along the lines of the PlasmoExplore project,
on functional prediction and gene annotation of Plasmodium
falciparum. He/She should have PhD in bioinformatics, with special
interest in statistical machine learning, algorithmics, genomics,
and(or) gene annotation. Please submit a summary of research
interests, CV, reprints of the main publications, and reference
contacts.
Contacts: Olivier Gascuel (gascuel@lirmm.fr) or Laurent Bréhélin
(brehelin@lirmm.fr).
