Getting started with CoGui

Thanks for your interest in CoGui. We’d like to help you get started using our conceptual graph editor.

Installing the client editor

java must be installed (v 1.4 or later) java runtime environnement is available for download at sun site: http://java.sun.com/
if your browser supports java press button to launch CoGui Application (with java web start). This is probably the simplest way to install CoGui for non-technical users and new releases are automatically loaded.
CoGui is also deployed into one executable jar and can be executed directly with "java -jar", no classpath has to be set, no additional jars have to be deployed. download page is here (don't forget to download new releases).

Installing Ontology Editor

Use this button to launch Ontology Editor (with java web start). This applicative version of CoGui is designed for ontology edition. It offers a limited set of CoGui edition features without some Conceptual Graphs (CGs) specific tools.

Note: CoGui is also deployed into one executable jar and can be executed directly with "java -jar", no classpath has to be set, no additional jars have to be deployed. Additional command line parameter is necessary to run Ontology Editor rather than common version of CoGui. Command line looks like that: java -jar cogui_x.x.x.jar -profile=resources/vocabulary_edition.cogui_profile .

Installing the CoGiTaNT server

for windows users an executable version of CoGiTaNT server (port 4246) is available here: http://www.lirmm.fr/~gutierre/cogui/cogitant/ (don't forget .dll dynamic library file)
