En effet, ces techniques permettent couramment dobtenir des gaz datomes froids qui sont les objets les plus froids de tout lUnivers,  des tempratures voisines du microkelvin. Ces atomes ultra-froids ont des vitesses de lordre du cm/s, ce qui veut dire que leur longueur donde de de Broglie est proche du micromtre.<o:p></o:p></span></p>  <p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify;text-indent:35.4pt;line-height: 18.0pt;tab-stops:53.0pt 94.0pt 228.0pt;border:none;mso-border-alt:solid windowtext 1.5pt; padding:0cm;mso-padding-alt:1.0pt 1.0pt 1.0pt 1.0pt'><span style='font-size: 10.0pt;color:black'>Nous tudions au laboratoire un systme conceptuellement simple obtenu en plaant des atomes froids dans une onde stationnaire cre par un laser. Dans des conditions adquates, les atomes peroivent cette onde comme un potentiel sinusodal, dont la profondeur est comparable  lnergie cintique des atomes, et dont la longueur caractristique est la moiti de la longueur donde optique (de lordre du micromtre). Les <i style='mso-bidi-font-style:normal'>chaos quantique</i> prsente des <i style='mso-bidi-font-style:normal'>signatures</i> caractristiques que nous avons rcemment mises en vidence exprimentalement, et dont nous tudions actuellement les tonnantes proprits, par exemple la sensibilit extrme de ce systme aux changements de la frquence des impulsions de londe stationnaire.<o:p></o:p></span></p>  <p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify;text-indent:35.4pt;line-height: 18.0pt;tab-stops:53.0pt 94.0pt 228.0pt;border:none;mso-border-alt:solid windowtext 1.5pt; padding:0cm;mso-padding-alt:1.0pt 1.0pt 1.0pt 1.0pt'><span style='font-size: 10.0pt;color:black'>Un avantage supplmentaire dutiliser une onde stationnaire pour gnrer le potentiel est que cela nous permet de manipuler ce potentiel&nbsp;: on peut en contrler la profondeur ou la position des nuds en changeant les caractristiques des faisceaux laser qui le gnrent.
