Biography:

Muhammad Zafar (Javed) SHAHID was born on the 5th of February 1979 in Shakargarh, Narowal (Punjab, Pakistan). He got his BS (Electrical Engineering) degree with honors from University of Engineering and Technology Lahore, Pakistan in 2001. From Oct 2001 till June 2006, he worked as Senior Embedded System Engineer in Streaming Networks. He got a Master 2 by Research (M2R) degree in Informatics/Computer Science from the INSA de Lyon France in 2007.  Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) of France honored him in 2008 by awarding a Scholarship for PhD in France which is valid till January 2011. From Jan 2008 to Dec 2010, he has been a PhD student at LIRMM (UM2] under the supervision of William PUECH and Marc CHAUMONT. He successfully defended his thesis on Oct 8, 2010. He has been a member of the research group Image & Interaction (ICAR) and his topic of research is scalable watermarking and encryption of state of the art video bitstreams. He is an active reviewer of several international conferences and journals. Along with this, he has been associated with University of Montpellier II, University of Nîmes and IUT Arles (University of Aix-Marseille I) as a visiting faculty.
