Phylip

is a phylogeny reconstruction package developed by Joe Felsenstein at the University of Washington. It's philosophy is to provide a myriad of small programs that perform many different functions as the basic stones of phylogeny reconstruction, rather than a global software including all the features of these programs available by menus. This makes particularly easy the inclusion of other basic stones developed by the user or by other developers (as myself) to propose new functionalities for reconstructing phylogenies.
