Phylip
is a phylogeny reconstruction
package developed by Joe Felsenstein at the University of
Washington. It's philosophy is to
provide a myriad of small programs that perform many different
functions as the basic stones of phylogeny reconstruction,
rather than a global software including all the features
of these programs available by menus.
This makes particularly easy the inclusion of other basic stones
developed by the user or by other developers (as myself) to propose
new functionalities for reconstructing phylogenies.
