I am full professor in Computer Science at the MIAp department of the Paul Valéry Montpellier University since September 2016. From September 2006 to August 2016, I was associate professor (« maître de conférences ») in the same department. I am head of the UFR6 (UFR d’Éducation et Sciences pour les LLASHS - Lettres Langues Arts Sciences Humaines et Sociales - UFR of Education and Sciences for LLASHS - Letters Languages Arts Humanities and Social Sciences) since September 2020. I teach information technology and data science. I am deputy of the ADVANSE (ADVanced Analytics for data SciencE) group of the LIRMM (Laboratory of Computer Science, Robotics and Microelectronics of Montpellier) since 2016. My research topics are mainly focused on data science applied to health.

Teachings Activities

I teach : Introduction to data science (Master MIASHS), Data base, Project (Licence MIASHS), Digital Culture (LP Métier de l'animation) and "Speaking in public" (Prise de parole en public) and "Becoming an IT (Formateur en informatique) trainer" (PhD students of the Doctoral school 58 et 60).

All the course materials are available on the learning plateform Moodle.

From 2015 to 2019, I was co-head of the master MIASHS.

Research Activities

My research topics are mainly focused on data science applied to heath. Since 2006, I have been mainly interested in two lines of research:

  1. Pattern extraction in health data. We have extended the semantics of sequential patterns to represent patient trajectories and use them to predict events.
  2. Enrichment of social media content. We have implemented different methods to analyse patient output from forums, social networks, etc. These methods include the development of machine learning and text mining techniques.

These works are all 1) theoretical and have led to the definition of new processing chains and 2) experimental since they have all been applied on real datasets and confronted with the views of health experts.

Publications : I publish in Data Science and in medical informatic. Most publications are indexed by DBLP et PUBMED.
