Michel Robert, who headed CINES from 2022 to 2025 and is now a professor at Polytech’Montpellier, holder of the joint chair in Responsibility, Ethics and Digital Impacts in partnership with the ISIA group, and President of the Montpellier Academy of Sciences and Letters, has just taken part in a round table discussion in The Hague entitled ‘Descartes, Spinoza and AI: reinventing knowledge, between philosophical heritage and the digital revolution’, chaired by François Alabrune, French Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. An exceptional occasion where the quest for knowledge transcends borders, and where the legacy of Descartes and Spinoza reminds us that science and philosophy together shed light on the challenges of the digital age and artificial intelligence: knowledge, ethics, transparency, consciousness, education, but also sovereignty and restraint, as exemplified by CINES. This fruitful dialogue, rooted in history yet looking to the future, has been a source of inspiration and has provided an opportunity for discussion with leading organisations based in The Hague, including the European Medicines Agency, the European Space Agency, the European Patent Office, the Witte Society and the Alliance Française de La Haye…
