It was with great sadness and amazement that we learned of the sudden death of our colleague, Dr Amine Dehbaoui.
Amine had completed his thesis in the LIRMM Microelectronics Department on the subject of embedded system security. Passionate about cybersecurity, he made a major contribution to the development of the LIRMM’s security analysis platforms.
After defending his thesis in 2011, Amine took part in a number of research projects in partnership with the LIRMM as a member of the CEA and the Saint-Étienne Ecole des Mines. Following this, he became a cybersecurity expert at Brightsight in the Netherlands, then at Qualcomm in the United States. More recently, he returned to his native land to set up an electronics company and provide cybersecurity training for Moroccan engineering students.
Amine was always passing on his knowledge: he loved to share his work and his ideas, and he always did so with kindness. We will always remember him as a brilliant researcher, curious, deeply human and a valuable colleague.
His dynamism, infectious enthusiasm and generosity will be remembered by all those who had the good fortune to work with him.
