Cabines de Curiosités” exhibition from October 5 to November 2 in Sète, aboard the sailboat Compass

An exhibition on a sailing boat – what a strange idea! This is what The Lost Compass association and the Service du Patrimoine Historique (SPH) of the University of Montpellier (UM) have come up with.

A journey through time and space to discover the history of science in fields such as geology, zoology, botany, mineralogy and more. Objects from the UM’s heritage collections and research centers*, brought back, exchanged and purchased by professors and great explorers, will give you a better understanding of what drove and continues to drive men and women to take to the seas and oceans.

Exhibition supported by the city of Sète and the Port Sud de France, with the participation of the Fonds de Solidarité et de Développement des Initiatives des Étudiants (FSDIE) of the University of Montpellier.

Laboratoire d’Informatique, de Robotique et de Microélectronique de Montpellier (LIRMM – UM/CNRS/UPV/UPVD/INRIA) and UMR MARine Biodiversity, Exploitation & Conservation (MARBEC – IRD-IFREMER-CNRS-UM-INRAE).

Admission: €5; free for students and staff of the University of Montpellier on presentation of card, and for all during the Fête de la Science (October 5-12).
