Marine drones. Autonomous boats with foils and rigid solar sails.
During the 33rd Fête de la science, the LIRMM, IES and LMGC research laboratories held a joint demonstration of drone vessels on the Jacques Coeur basin.
‘The prototypes on display were designed as part of a training (Faculty of Science and Polytech) and research project aimed at developing an innovative autumn surface craft. It is part of the general framework of energy efficiency in maritime transport. It incorporates electric or vellic propulsion thanks to a rigid steerable wing, foil navigation and recharging via steerable solar panels’.
