Offshore energy platforms : the new challenge for inspection robotics
The MIPS Research Cluster is relaunching its monthly conference cycle with a new scientific event open to the academic and industrial communities and the general public interested in technological innovations. These meetings aim to share recent research advances, stimulate interdisciplinary exchanges and highlight local collaborations on high-stakes projects.

A conference at the crossroads of robotics and marine energy
Marine renewable energy (MRE) is growing rapidly, particularly in the Occitanie region, where it represents a major strategic challenge. The operation of the associated offshore platforms requires new approaches to underwater robotic inspection and maintenance.

- Jean-Charles Laurentie, Researcher, University of Montpellier – IES
will highlight innovative research and solutions that combine expertise in underwater drones and inspection robotics (LIRMM) with expertise in sensors and diagnostics (IES).
Topics covered will include :
- structural characterisation of platforms to detect potential damage,
- study of interactions between infrastructure and the marine environment (biofouling, noise pollution, ecological impacts),
- dynamic inspection of power transmission cables.
