Congratulations to Thierry Gil on being awarded the CNRS Crystal Medal

The Crystal Medal is awarded to men and women who, through their creativity, technical expertise and sense of innovation, contribute to the advancement of knowledge and the excellence of French research.

This year, the award went to Thierry Gil, CNRS Research Engineer, who joined the LIRMM Microelectronics Department in 2002. Congratulations to him!

Thierry Gil is a graduate engineer in microelectronics and automatic control from Polytech Montpellier. He works as a CNRS research engineer at the LIRMM. His areas of expertise are the design and programming of digital circuits. He has taken part in several European projects: the PERPLEXUS project to design an embedded system inspired by biology, the SmartVista project to develop autonomous and intelligent multimodal sensors for monitoring vital signs, and recently the NeurONN project to design an oscillatory neural network. Thierry Gil has also been head of the LIRMM Research Support Department since 2012 and head of the FPGA platform at the CNFM (Coordination Nationale de la Formation en Microélectronique et en nanotechnologies) cluster in Montpellier.
